Zane Vrvilo for Alaska State Senate
Meet Zane: My story
I am a born and raised Palmer Alaskan. I’ve grown to truly appreciate everything this land has to offer. From fishing all across the state, to hiking the Chugach Mountains right in our backyard. I couldn’t have been more blessed to grow up here, and I want that same opportunity for every family who calls Alaska home.
I graduated from Colony High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University. My family has deep roots in the Mat-Su School District, and I have enormous respect for the work Alaskan teachers do in shaping the next generation. Our students and teachers truly deserve proper funding and support from the state.
After college, I took a different path and became a chemical operator on the North Slope. Oilfield work is one of the most essential parts of Alaska’s economy. This state is an energy powerhouse, and I stand strongly with our oilfield workers and support the full monetization of our natural gas resources through projects like Alaska LNG.
As far back as I can remember my dad was teaching me how to catch salmon and live the true Alaskan lifestyle. My best memories are being out on the water with my family fishing. Salmon makes up most of what I eat throughout the year, which is true for a lot of Alaskan families. As a lifelong fisherman, I’m deeply committed to protecting Alaska’s world class fisheries and strong salmon runs for future generations.
I’ve met so many amazing people here, but it isn’t easy for everyone to stay. The high cost of living, housing, energy, and everything else makes it tough. I want my family, my friends, and the entire Mat-Su to be able to flourish right here in the best state in America.
That’s why I’m running for Alaska State Senate in District M. I’m not a career politician. I’m a regular working Alaskan who believes in doing the right thing for our families and communities. I’m running because I genuinely believe I can make a real difference, and I truly want to help build a better future for the Mat-Su and all of Alaska.
I will fight every day for better school funding, good paying jobs, PFD protection, responsible resource development, and protecting the Alaska way of life we all love.
My vision for Alaska
I see an Alaska where our families can truly thrive, not just survive.
A state where our schools are properly funded so our kids receive a strong education and our teachers are valued and supported. A place where young people can graduate, find good paying jobs right here in Alaska, and build a life without having to leave home.
I envision an Alaska with responsible energy development that creates good paying jobs, generates stable revenue for the state, keeps energy costs down for working families, and protects our world class fisheries and outdoor way of life.
Above all, I want Alaska to remain a place where faith, family, and hard work are honored. A place where the government works for the people, not the other way around.
This isn’t about politics. It’s about doing what’s right for the next generation of Alaskans. That’s the Alaska I’m fighting for.
